Alexis developed this amazing system out of pure frustration while working on a big, bulky blanket with friends.
It was painful and heavy, making knitting for long stretches of time impossible.
Suddenly, an idea popped into her head.
She grabbed some knitting tools and supplies, made some modifications, and started knitting quickly and effortlessly.
“How is it that no one has ever thought of this?” she thought. And then, she got to work!
After building her own prototype, she discovered that she could knit for hours without strain and pain on her hands and wrists.
Ironically, after the needles were invented, Alexis had a serious accident requiring surgery and rehab, and couldn’t knit at all for over a year.
A tool that was born out of frustration would ultimately become a necessity for Alexis, which helped her to appreciate the value and impact of her invention more than ever.
